Here in Spain our self-steem as a country is really low. We as a nation are divided by the insterests of a few individuals who don't look after us, the people. We can't even feel proud of our country or our flag 'cause we would be considered as fascists because the wounds of the Civil War are still open and fresh. We tend to think of ourselves as incapable, we look down to whoever tries to make a change, we try to step on each others to not let'em grow, we don't trust ourselves. We don't love ourselves.
If you add the economical crisis and our politicians being kids who preffer to make the others fall instead of collab to get things fixed you get a very depressed people, who is tired of broken promises, lies, and insecurity.
Worldcup has bring Spain some illusion. Some say it's wrong 'cause it's blinding people from the real problems and that they should focus in protest against the Goverment, some preffer to think they're stupid.
I do think people is not stupid, people has not forgotten about crisis, has not forgotten there's a lot to fix, but seeing Spain winning all these matches at the Worldcup is giving them some illusion, some happiness, and bringing the idea that, hey! We're not as bad as we thought! We can forget where did we born and collab to make something great! We can make it! We all know it's just an illusion, we won't be richer if Spain wins the Worldcup, we won't get a job the day after, we won't be prettier nor smarter. But it will rise our spirit, will make us feel positive, and we can use that optimism to stand and fight for our rights and our beliefs. Why should we be called "idiots" if there' just this one small thing that can bring some joy to our hearts? Why should we be wrong? You can't win if you think you're a loser. The strongest battle is in our mind.
We don't have heroes nor nobody to look up to, but we do have some young sportsmen showing us we can win if we try hard and don't hesitate, if we fight for what we believe: our national basketball team, Rafa Nadal who just won Wimbledon some days ago, and now our football team which is making history.
Tomorrow Spain we'll be facing Holland. Even if we don't get back home holding the Cup, we'll be winners.
Yo el día del partido empecé un dibujo, pero no me dió tiempo de acabarlo, ya que me fuí de viaje ¡-¡ A todo esto... porqué no has puesto el comentario en castellano tu?
